CNN Announces Second Annual “GUNS ARE TERRIBLE” Town Hall Special

So impressed were they with themselves after their first GUNS ARE BAD town hall special, CNN has decided to do it again. On Wednesday night, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo will host “America Under Assault: The Gun Crisis,” an event whose name pretty much tells you everything you need to know about its content. You have to give the network credit: They only let three days pass before organizing this transparent ratings grab. Don’t tell us that they’re not on the ball down in Atlanta.

The first town hall, which took place last year, was in direct response to the shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Since that special accomplished nothing other than to give a handful of brats the chance to berate Republicans and conservatives in front of a nationally-televised audience, we can only guess that gun-defenders will be much less likely to appear on the second edition.

Which is fine with us. Let them have their circlejerk. There’s no reason for men and women of good faith to participate in an event that might as well be underwritten by the Democratic Party.

“Given how disastrous the last one was for civil discourse on the issue I have zero expectation that this one will be any better,” said the NRA’s Dana Loesch. “It’s a difficult thing to ask viewers to suspend their reality and accept Cuomo, who has been quite partisan on the issue, as a sudden neutral moderator. Right off the bat it doesn’t seem like a good-faith gesture of objectivity.”

Idiotically, CNN won a Walter Cronkite award for their original special, which media insiders praised as having “advanced the national conversation on gun control and violence.”

We assume the fruits of those advances were borne out in Dayton and El Paso.

We’re sure the second go-around will be just as effective.
