CNN’s Clown: Trump’s Rhetoric Will Lead to “Dead Journalists”

CNN’s Chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta is riding high on his newfound notoriety and, boy, he is going to ride it all the way to the bank. So enamored is this clown with the sound of his own voice and the fantasy of his own moral high ground that he is willing to go to absurd extremes to convince otherwise rational Americans that this country’s Crusaders for Truth (the mainstream media) are in mortal peril thanks to President Trump’s criticism.

Days after being hilariously cast out of the Oval Office for grandstanding, Acosta and MSNBC’s April Ryan appeared at a Newseum event in Washington entitled: “Journalism in the Trump Era.” While attending the panel, Acosta told a credulous crowd of adoring liberals that it was only a matter of time before the president’s rhetoric resulted in the death of one of his colleagues.

Acosta said he’d recently seen a T-shirt displaying a picture of a journalist, a noose, and a tree with the caption, “Some assembly required.” As you may have guessed, he didn’t find it very funny.

“I remember seeing that t-shirt at Trump rallies, during the campaign. We have to get through our minds, that that is un-American. We don’t kill journalists in this country,” he said. “The moment that that happens, the moment that there’s a dead journalist on the side of the highway, because of the rhetoric coming out of the White House from the President of the United States, is a day that we become something less than the United States of America. Full stop. End of story.”

You got that, readers? You don’t kill journalists in this country.

Oh, you already knew that? Well, then.

“My belief is, and it’s a strong belief, is that the President of the United States, is acting in a way, that is simply unpresidential when it comes to deal with members of the press,” Acosta later said. “We should not tolerate this and let me just say this, it is not right to call us the enemy of the people, it is not right to call us fake news, it is not right to retweet images of the president tackling reporters, running them over with trains, squashing them like a bug.”

Well, we don’t know if it’s “right” or not – that’s really a matter of opinion – but it is endlessly amusing. Acosta seems to think that Trump’s (idiot, racist, deplorable) supporters take it in some other way, like we’re all simmering pots of barely-restrained jihadist rage, ready to kill Wolf Blitzer on the orders of the White House. And the fact that he thinks that – the fact that so many in the media believe something like this – just makes it all the funnier when Trump calls them out for their shenanigans. They literally don’t realize that they’re being played for fools because they think they’re so much smarter than Trump’s average voter, to say nothing of Trump himself.

Here’s a non-fake news alert for you, Jim: You aren’t.

And you aren’t in any danger, save for the professional risk of ruining your reputation. Chill out, calm down, and stop pretending you’re engaged in some imaginary apocalyptic battle for “truth” with the White House. We don’t want to see you dead by the highway, Jim. We just want you to stop embarrassing yourself.
