Democrats Have a “Hollywood Strike Force” Telling Them How to Win

It may be only a matter of time before the Democratic Party is relegated to third party status in the United States. Black support for President Trump is unprecedented in the modern Republican Party. The latest reports on the job market and the economy have Democrats so frazzled that Nancy Pelosi is out there telling American voters that it’s a BAD THING that these numbers are so good. The party has defined itself as pro-illegal immigration, anti-tax cuts, anti-police, and pro-MS-13. This is no way to win elections, and that’s before you even get into the far left-wing of the party, which is quickly becoming mainstream with pie-in-the-sky promises about free college, free healthcare, and free basic income.

So dire is the future for this party that they have begun turning to Hollywood for some advice. According to a new article in Politico, the DNC and a few members of Congress are meeting with what they’re calling a “Hollywood strike force” of writers and producers in the hopes that Tinseltown can help Democrats get their mojo back.

From Politico:

DNC Chairman Tom Perez, several House members and other top elected officials have already met with the group, formed by members of the entertainment industry in the wake of the 2016 election, that participants liken to a TV writers’ room, complete with producers of such programs as “Veep.” The existence of the group and details of the meetings have not been previously reported.

The group has discussed targeted voter-registration programs with visiting Democrats, as well as the party’s framing of issues ranging from abortion rights to gun control. In one recent meeting, a Midwestern senator sought advice about how to discuss gun control with conservative-leaning voters in his or her state, multiple participants said.

We really can’t imagine who could offer better advice on how to reach out to conservative Midwesterners on gun control than a bunch of Los Angeles movie producers who really mean it when they call that part of the U.S. “flyover country.” If this is the party’s secret weapon heading into the 2018 midterms and beyond, they’re in worse trouble than we thought.

Oh, and there was also this precious part that we have to share:

Alex Gregory, a writer and producer, said he has lobbied Democrats in their meetings to tie in vitro fertilization to abortion rights debates, while generally encouraging Democrats to adopt “more emotional content” in their messaging.

“It really is focused on … what do we stand for? In some ways, how did we lose?” Gregory said. “It is a moment of soul searching right now, in that we lost to an insane person … and that was more appealing than what we had to offer.”

That just struck us as pretty hilarious in a lot of different ways.

Given the amount of absolute crap that Hollywood churns out every year, we don’t put a lot of faith into their ability to resurrect the Democratic Party. But if you see some 2020 candidates blundering out into the campaign field with polished slogans and movie-style posters, you’ll know why you’re seeing what you’re seeing. It should be great for some laughs, in any case.
