Go, Go, Democrats: Sleazy Porn Lawyer Says He Might Run for President

Months after Democrats briefly entertained the idea of recruiting Oprah Winfrey to run against Donald Trump in 2020, it is becoming quickly apparent that they could sink much, much lower in their choice of nominees. If the party opts out of a safe loser like Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, perhaps they’ll want to put their votes behind Michael Avenatti, the camera-loving lawyer for porn star Stormy Daniels.

In Iowa this week to drum up some more publicity, Avenatti told the Des Moines Register that he was seriously considering a run for the White House.

“I’m exploring a run for the presidency of the United States,” Avenatti said, “and I wanted to come to Iowa and listen to people and learn about some issues that are facing the citizens of Iowa and do my homework.”

And you thought Hillary Clinton was a bad nominee!

How Avenatti will have time to seriously explore a political run while in between appearances on CNN and MSNBC is anyone’s guess, because there simply aren’t that many hours in a day. We’d also like to know when it is the guy actually finds time to do his actual job. We certainly hope Stormy isn’t paying him a blanket fee.

Avenatti assured the paper that this was not just a publicity stunt.

“I would never think to come to Iowa in order to use the state or the people of the state to raise my profile,” he said. “And obviously if I do this, then I intend to work hard and I know that ultimately the trust of the citizens of Iowa is going to have to be earned.”

Avenatti has proven to be an amusing diversion within the #Resistance, but he’s out to lunch if he thinks he seriously has a shot of beating Trump. Or even nabbing the Democratic nomination, for that matter. Spinning your high-octane brand of BS on Anderson Cooper’s show is one thing; convincing the American people that you can run the country is another matter entirely. To be quite honest, we’ve yet to see any evidence that Avenatti is even a decent lawyer. He’s a hell of a pitchman. He’s got ambition running out of his ears. But a viable candidate for president?

Um, no.

But hey, Democrats, by all means. Go for it.
