Mad Dog Mattis Takes a Huge Bite Out of Bob Woodward’s New Book

President Trump has slammed Bob Woodward’s new book, “Fear,” an expose of the Trump White House, as being an exercise in dishonesty, and several staffers have come out to say that the iconic journalist was being less than forthright about the interviews he conducted over the course of creating the book. But no one has taken Woodward’s book to town like Defense Secretary James Mattis, who released a statement denouncing everything attributed to him…including the allegation that he once said President Trump had the understanding of a “fifth or sixth grader.”

“The contemptuous words about the President attributed to me in Woodward’s book were never uttered by me or in my presence,” Mattis said Tuesday. “While I generally enjoy reading fiction, this is a uniquely Washington brand of literature, and his anonymous sources do not lend credibility. In serving in this administration, the idea that I would show contempt for the elected Commander-in-Chief, President Trump, or tolerate disrespect to the office of the President from within our Department of Defense, is a product of someone’s rich imagination.”

The book’s allegations were also rejected by another top general serving in Trump’s administration: Chief of Staff John Kelly.

“The idea I ever called the President an idiot is not true,” he said in a statement. “In fact, it’s exactly the opposite. As I stated back in May and still firmly stand behind: I spend more time with the President than anyone else, and we have an incredibly candid and strong relationship. He always knows where I stand, and he and I both know this story is total BS. I’m committed to the President, his agenda, and our country. This is another pathetic attempt to smear people close to President Trump and distract from the administration’s many successes.”

We’ll take the word of these two honorable military men over that of Bob Woodward and his anonymous sources any day, but honestly, it might be best for Trump and the White House to just put all of this noise on “ignore” and move on. It’s “Fire and Fury” Part II. The anti-Trump media will get excited about it for a week or two, and then everyone will move on. There are too many journalists trying to bring this president down for any “tell-all” expose to really make a difference. The American people want to hear about the president’s agenda and the implementation thereof; we’re not interested in the latest fake news/gossip coming out of the West Wing.

Honestly, you can pick up the Washington Post on any given day and read all about how AWFUL and TERRIBLE this administration is; why spend $25 to read this liberal tripe in hardback?
