Media Hiding Truth About These Two Dangerous Charlottesville Groups

We can debate all day over whether or not President Trump should have said this or shouldn’t have said that over the past week, but the fact remains that whether or not his Charlottesville comments were politically wise, they were rooted in truth. And it’s a truth that far too many in the media are far too willing to ignore. The media has put up its full-on Fake News flag this week, and not just when it comes to their overblown condemnation of Trump’s remarks. They have done something far more insidious and quiet, which is to deliberately provide shelter for some of the vicious, violent left-wing groups that were present in that park on Saturday.

Because the media narrative has been SO one-sided, we suppose we have to belabor the obvious: What happened in Charlottesville was a sick tragedy and there’s no excuse for it. Nor is there any excuse or sympathy for white supremacists who walk around chanting “blood and soil.”

That said, the evil of these groups does not automatically make the other side innocent. And like it or not, we have something called the First Amendment. It guarantees groups like those that showed up in Charlottesville the right to chant their ugly slogans and march peacefully. It does not – obviously – give them the right to run their car into their ideological enemies.

But while that same First Amendment gives groups like the Workers World Party and Antifa the right to show up and counter-protest, it does not – obviously – give them the right to destroy property or attack white nationalists with clubs and Mace.

That’s the point President Trump was desperately trying to make this week. There’s no room for violence and hatred. Period. It doesn’t matter if that violence comes wrapped in a liberal cloak or a Nazi flag. But the media didn’t want to hear it. Because that would have entailed actually telling their viewers and readers that a group like Antifa cannot be dismissed as simply being “anti-fascist.” That…that really doesn’t cover it.

No, that doesn’t tell you that Antifa is anti- a lot of things that may surprise your average American. That they are anti-capitalism. That they are anti-First Amendment, which can also be read as anti-Constitution. In recent years, they have been responsible for some truly heinous demonstrations on California college campuses, such as when they nearly burned UC Berkeley to the ground to protest conservative speaker Milo Yiannopoulos. And wherever there are pro-Trump rallies, these black-clothed and masked instigators are sure to be found, causing trouble, wielding weapons, and initiating violence.

Then there is the Workers World Party, which was also represented in the streets of Charlottesville. As opposed to Antifa, which got very little coverage, the Workers World Party got none. At all. On any network. In any mainstream newspaper. This is a full-on Communist organization that has supported Chairman Mao, Soviet genocide, and American terrorist groups like the Weather Underground. They are not peaceful, “left-leaning” protesters. They are hateful radicals who would love nothing more than to see the current American system of government come crashing down.

Were both sides equally to blame for what happened in Charlottesville? Perhaps not. But that doesn’t mean we should focus exclusively on the white extremists and ignore their left-wing equivalents. These anarchists may not have killed anyone last weekend, but it is only a matter of time. When and if they do, will the media act surprised? Will they condemn them with all of the same moral outrage with which they condemned the neo-Nazis? Or will they continue to give these groups political cover?
