Is It Still Safe to Be a Republican in the United States?

When the mainstream media covers left-wing protests, it’s always the same story. Diverse groups of women, ethnic minorities, and flamboyant gays holding up clever signs, speaking intelligently to the cameras, and – if necessary – disavowing the tiny, insignificant, you-would-hardly-even-notice them bands of rabble-rousers who caused trouble. And the media tells us, over and over, time and again, that these small pockets of miscreants have nothing to do with the broad, family-friendly, loving, peaceful protest movements as a whole. No, they’re just thugs and criminals who want to come out and ruin a good thing.

Well, fine. But we’ll just note that these thugs and criminals seem awfully attracted to left-wing causes. Funny how that works.

And with that said, it’s getting harder to ignore or excuse the violent threats and outbreaks we’re seeing in districts around the country. It’s getting so bad that many congressional Republicans are beginning to wonder if they can get out of their own hometowns alive.

From The Hill:

In the last few weeks alone, the FBI arrested a man threatening Rep. Martha McSally’s (R-Ariz.) life, a woman pursued Rep. David Kustoff (R-Tenn.) in her car, and Rep. Tom Garrett (R-Va.) heightened security at a town hall event in response to death threats.

[…]

Meanwhile, Garrett spokesman Andrew Griffin said the freshman lawmaker has received at least three death threats over the course of the healthcare debate.

One constituent called Garrett’s Washington office and said if his healthcare is taken away, he would take Garrett’s life away. Another person sent a message to Garrett’s campaign Facebook page with graphic details describing how they would kill Garrett.

Of course, you already knew all of this, right? Sure you did, it was all over the nightly news! Oh, it wasn’t? No, but you heard all about the vandals at Jewish cemeteries, didn’t you. Yeah, and the little alt-right Nazi salute in Washington around the time of the inauguration, you heard about that. And you probably still remember the old dude who punched a black guy at a Trump rally last year, since the media had a field day playing it over…and over…and over…and over.

But when the left does it, it’s just a couple of nutballs who don’t have anything to do with politics.

And it’s with that kind of protective cover that more and more of these left-wing fascists feel emboldened to go further and further.

It takes a lot of courage to stand up for your convictions, and we have to praise any and all Republicans for – if nothing else – putting themselves in danger to speak up for Trump and conservatism.
