Conservative Senator Ted Cruz told Fox News this week that Democrats were losing control of themselves in a fit of rage that was directed not just at the Republican Party but at the American public. Astounded by Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s unhinged speech against Jeff Sessions on Tuesday, Cruz said it was representative of a party that had completely lost its bearings.
“They are angry with the voters,” Cruz said Wednesday. “‘How dare you vote in a Republican president, a Republican Senate, a Republican House?'”
Democrats, Cruz told Fox News, were using the Senate floor as an outlet for their anger with the American people.
“Democrats are objecting to every single thing,” he said. “They are boycotting committee meetings and refusing to show up. They are just — they are foaming at the mouth practically.”
Cruz, who was absent from the Senate debate over Sessions on Tuesday, said he was not sad to see her silenced.
“The charges she was making against Jeff Sessions are very false,” said Cruz. “They’re slanderous and ugly. When the left doesn’t have any other arguments they go and accuse everyone of being a racist and it is an ugly part of the modern Democratic Party.”
Exactly. No one in elected office understand the tricks of the left better than Ted Cruz. Running a close second would be the president himself, although his is grounded in a basic understanding of Washington corruption and human behavior. Cruz, however, is a specialist, and he has watched these Democrats run the same tired playbooks again and again over the course of his political career.
Unfortunately, there’s a reason they keep going back to the same well: Their tricks work. They work because they have the full power of the liberal media behind them. Warren’s narrative was being carried to the masses by every news outlet in the country by Wednesday morning. And though it can’t keep Sessions from being confirmed as the next attorney general, it’s enough to keep the Democrat base fired up for another couple of days.
Then, of course, it will be time for a fresh new outrage.
