You Can’t Praise a Republican on Social Media Anymore

Shortly after President Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, Yale Law School celebrated the achievement of their graduate with lots of glowing quotes from his colleagues and a proud review of his long career. Only a few days later, a collection of liberal nutjobs who also graduated from Yale penned an open letter blasting the school for the praise, claiming that Kavanaugh represented an unprecedented threat to lesbians, abortionists, and whatever other wacky constituencies that make up the Democratic Party these days. To read the letter, you would have thought that Yale Law School nominated and endorsed Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court themselves rather than publish a standard and utterly typical “atta boy” for a graduate who done good.

But then we reminded ourselves that in 2018, the left views ANY relationship with Trump or the Republicans other than adversarial hatred to be a betrayal of everything they hold dear. They have completely bought into the hype. While most normal Americans have been rolling their eyes to the backs of their heads whenever some idiot compares Trump to Hitler, THESE MORONS ACTUALLY BELIEVE IT. These fools really think that we’re on the verge of some kind of “Handmaid’s Tale” society where even saying the word “gay” will get you electrocuted with a cattle prod.

This is the kind of mental midget that gets upset when Yale Law School praises Brett Kavanaugh and it’s the kind of idiot who thinks a University of Georgia professor should be reprimanded for DARING to call a Republican politician his friend.

Yes, this week UGA professor Charles Davis made the tragic mistake of congratulating gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp on winning the Republican primaries.

“I went to high school with GOP guv candidate @BrianKempGA,” Davis wrote. “We played YMCA ball from childhood. Politics be damned. He is a nice guy, always was. Kind to a fault. He’s a friend, always has been, and will be when we’re old(er) and grey(er). That’s how all this should work, people.”

That’s how all this should work, eh? You mean, being friends with your political rivals? Having something decent to say about someone, even if they don’t agree with you on every issue? Well, yeah, that sounds good.

Unfortunately, Davis’s students don’t agree.

From Campus Reform:

Rather than embracing Davis’ call for civility, liberals quickly denounced him for having something nice to say about a Republican, declaring that Kemp is a “racist” who “spews bigoted and dangerous rhetoric,” and insinuating that Davis must therefore be no different.

“You’re a straight white man. Of course he was nice and kind to you. Racists are generally nice to their own kind,” one user replied. “Why don’t you say what you really mean. Politics be damned. You’d never vote for a black woman and would much rather vote for the white racist.”

“It’s the definition of privilege,” another user remarked caustically. “~the dean~ has the luxury of damning politics because no politician is threatening his rights, safety, or survival; he is willing to empower those who would threaten the same of others on account of the candidate being ‘nice’ to him personally.”

Davis, having apparently learned from watching liberals – LIBERALS – like Bret Weinstein be driven out of their careers by the leftist mob, chose discretion as the better part of valor and apologized for his tweet.

“I’d like to apologize to anyone offended by my tweet shout out to Brian Kemp,” he wrote. “It was ill-timed and poorly written. I’ve read and learned so much from you all and will endeavor to be more thoughtful.”

A couple of years ago, we wouldn’t have believed that you could turn a grown man into a spineless jellyfish with such little effort. But in today’s climate, we’re barely surprised.
