Bill Clinton’s Obamacare Comments Put Hillary in Spotlight

Former President Bill Clinton put his wife and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in the spotlight on Tuesday. The former president called Obamacare “this crazy system” on Monday, causing Hillary to scramble to defend Obamacare.

Hillary quickly addressed the issue just hours later, stating, “I’ve been saying we’ve got to fix what’s broken and keep what works, and that’s what exactly we’re going to do.”

Republicans used Bill’s words to their advantage to prove that the Affordable Care Act is not working. Bill has formerly praised the healthcare law, but he has stated that many Americans still cannot afford high premiums.

He was quoted as saying, “So you’ve got this crazy system where all of a sudden 25 million more people have health care and then the people who are out there busting it, sometimes 60 hours a week, wind up with their premiums doubled and their coverage cut in half. It’s the craziest thing in the world.”

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, Clinton’s biggest opponent before she was crowned the Democratic nominee, pushed for a Medicare-for-All plan that would provide all Americans with universal healthcare.

Hillary rebuked Sanders often, stating that he refuses to admit how far Obamacare has come.

Bill Clinton’s comments on Obamacare are expected to be a topic of discussion among Republicans that have threatened to repel Obamacare.
