Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said Hillary Clinton “has to go to jail” over her email scandal when speaking at a rally on Wednesday, CNN reported.
The GOP nominee attacked Clinton on issues with her health and the contents of the hacked emails of John Podesta, her campaign chairman.
Trump took jabs at Clinton in an attempt to shift the focus on his opponent after slipping in the polls. The Republican nominee’s performance at Sunday’s debate and recently-leaked lewd comments from 2005 have hurt his poll numbers.
Speaking to a crowd in Ocala, Florida, Trump condemned Congress for not doing more to investigate Clinton after the FBI made the decision not to seek charges over her private email server.
“This is the most heinous, the most serious thing I’ve ever seen involving justice in the United States – in the history of the United States,” Trump said.
Later at another event in Lakeland, Florida, the Republican nominee reaffirmed his pledge to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Clinton. He warned that Clinton “has to go to jail” along with the lawyers working for her.
Trump took jabs at Clinton’s health, too, asserting that she could not “stand up here for an hour” and talk the way he talks. The GOP nominee was delivering his speech in a packed livestock shed.
