Former Clinton Staffer Refuses to Answer Questions on Private Email Server

A former IT staffer at the State Department who was in charge of setting up and maintaining Clinton’s private email server has refused to answer any questions from a congressional committee. The ex-staffer’s silence has angered Republican committee members, CNN reported.

The former staffer in question is Bryan Pagliano, who was employed by the State Department while Clinton was serving as Secretary of State. Pagliano was also paid separately by Clinton to manage the email server she used during her tenure.

Pagliano, who was subpoenaed last week, was a no-show at a hearing before the House Oversight Committee.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz said he would be consulting with his colleagues and counsel to weigh the options in light of Pagliano’s failure to appear.

“When you are served a subpoena from the United States Congress, it is not optional,” he said.

The ex-Clinton staffer plead the Fifth last year when he was questioned by the House Select Committee on Benghazi. The Department of Justice also granted him limited immunity when he was interviewed by the FBI.

When subpoenaed in the Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, Pagliano also refused to answer questions.

Two other witnesses appeared on Tuesday at the hearing, but also plead the Fifth and refused to answer any questions. These two witnesses were hired by the Clinton family to help maintain the server.
