Jill Stein, Green Party presidential candidate, discussed the actions she would have taken against Osama bin Laden with the Des Moines Register on the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.
Stein stated, “I think I would not have assassinated Osama bin Laden, but would have captured him and brought him to trial.”
President Barack Obama chose to assassinate bin Laden and dump his body in the ocean so that there would not be a memorial or place of gathering around his grave. Stein justified her comments by pointing out that the attackers and bin Laden both had funding and help to carry out the attacks.
Stein further stated that she would have “pursued the attackers and gotten the intelligence about who was behind this.”
The candidate discussed Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, calling both “warmongers.”
The Green Party candidate has reached out to Bernie Sanders voters in an attempt to lure his supporters to her in this year’s election. Stein has polling numbers around 4% – 5% in recent polls and will need 15% to be able to enter into the national debates during the general election.
Stein conducted her interview before campaigning in Iowa at a rally that had an attendance of 150 people.
