John Kasich on Trump: “I’m Not Making Any Final Decisions Yet”

Ohio governor John Kasich spoke on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” show on Thursday morning, stating “I’m not making any final decision yet” when pressed on endorsing Donald Trump. The distraught governor pledged to support the Republican nominee last year, but the reality of a Trump presidency is too much for Kasich to swallow.

“At this point, I just can’t do it,” he said.

Host Joe Scarborough pressed on with his questions, asking the governor if he would recommend that Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell think hard about their support of Trump. “You know politics. They don’t care what I think,” replied Kasich.

The Republican governor of Ohio says it’s difficult to be in his position. Reaffirming that he has been a Republican his whole life, the governor said, “I would say that I think Paul Ryan is definitely torn.” Ryan, the House Speaker, has a responsibility to unite the Republican party, but has differences with Trump over his political agenda.

Kasich did not speculate what he would do if he was in Ryan’s position to unite the party.

The governor has not endorsed Trump and told Fox News previously that it’s “hard to say” whether he would back Trump at the Republican National Convention next month.
