While Donald Trump remains the 2016 GOP frontrunner, a recent poll by Monmouth University found that John Kasich could be the only Republican candidate that would have a chance of defeating Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in the November election.
This poll comes despite Kasich still trailing in the race to be the Republican nominee, with many of the Republican Party hierarchy throwing their support behind Ted Cruz.
The poll found that while Cruz and Trump would be beaten by Clinton, Kasich was deemed to be ahead of Clinton by 6 percent. The polls predicted that Cruz would be six percent behind Clinton and that the billionaire Trump would trail her by more than 10 percent.
The results of this poll were also found by another poll that was conducted by Quinnipac University last week.
While the results of this poll are good for Kasich, the Ohio governor still hasn’t made much progress towards defeating Trump. Many of the establishment Republicans, such as Jeb Bush, Lindsey Graham and Mitt Romney are backing Ted Cruz as the primary challenger to Trump.
