Trump to Deliver Detailed Immigration Speech on Wednesday

Donald Trump, Republican nominee, plans on delivering a detailed speech on his illegal immigration proposal on Wednesday in Arizona, according to a report from the Associated Press.

Trump tweeted the announcement of the speech late Sunday night: “I will be making a major speech on ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION on Wednesday in the GREAT state of Arizona.”

The New York businessman said he was scouting out a larger venue to hold the “big crowds” expected on Wednesday.

For days, the Republican nominee had been wavering on his illegal immigration stance, an issue that has been the foundation of his campaign from the start. In November, Trump said he would deport 11 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. using a “deportation force.”

After a series of comments which Trump seemed to backpedal on his illegal immigration policies, the Republican nominee says he will clear up these questions during his speech.

Katrina Pierson, spokeswoman for the Trump campaign, said on CNN, “He hasn’t changed his position on immigration. He’s changed the words that he is saying.”

Despite his wavering, Trump has remained firm on a few immigration issues. He still plans on building a wall on the U.S./Mexico border, he wants to deport illegal immigrants who commit crimes, and he wants to prohibit Muslims from “known terrorist” countries from entering the U.S.
