Trump’s Tweets Seen as Insight Into Potential Vice President

Donald Trump has not revealed his choice for Vice President yet, but a series of tweets from the presumptive Republican nominee provides insight into a few choices. Joni Ernst, Mike Pence and Tom Cotton have been mentioned in recent tweets.

“I look forward to meeting with @joniernst today in New Jersey,” stated Trump. Ernst’s name was first mentioned as a potential VP pick over the weekend and was confirmed by a senior Trump advisor.

“Tom Cotton was great on Meet the Press yesterday despite a totally one-sided interview by Chuck Todd,” tweeted Trump. Cotton showed his support for Trump during the interview, and fended off a question from Chuck Todd asking why Trump should be president by stating, “Donald Trump can ultimately make the case for himself.”

In the final tweet of the series, Trump said: “Spent time with Indiana Governor Mike Pence and family yesterday. Very impressed, great people!” The meeting was quoted as “warm and friendly.” A spokesman for Pence stated “nothing was offered and nothing was accepted” in reference to the vice presidency.

Trump has fueled speculation over his vice president pick by stating, “The only people who are not interested in being the V.P. pick are the people who have not been asked!”
