Further solidifying their insipid reputation for liberal idiocy, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to declare the National Rifle Association a domestic terrorist organization, and they encouraged other cities to follow their lead. With the resolution, which is not legally binding in any particular way, the board said that the NRA is guilty of inciting episodes of violence and spreading “misinformation and propaganda” about guns. It brings pressure against the city government to avoid doing business with vendors who have a working relationship with the firearms lobby.
“The NRA conspires to limit gun violence research, restrict gun violence data sharing and most importantly aggressively tries to block every piece of sensible gun violence prevention legislation proposed on any level, local state or federal,” said Supervisor Catherine Stefani. “When they use phrases like, ‘I’ll give you my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands’ on bumper stickers, they are saying reasoned debate about public safety should be met with violence.”
They are? We know that San Francisco liberals have a hard time processing language (just look at what they’ve recently done with words like “felon”), but that’s a bit of a stretch, no? It’s not like the catchphrase was “I’ll go on a shooting spree if you so much as bring up universal background checks.” But what else would you expect from the granola-munchers who sit on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors?
In a statement prior to the vote, NRA spokeswoman Amy Hunter said: “This ludicrous stunt by the Board of Supervisors is an effort to distract from the real problems facing San Francisco, such as rampant homelessness, drug abuse and skyrocketing petty crime. The board is wasting taxpayer dollars to declare five million law-abiding Americans domestic terrorists, and it’s shameful.”
But in remarks to a local news station, Stefani remained confident about her resolution.
“The NRA has it coming to them, and I will do everything that I possibly can to call them out on what they are, which is a domestic terrorist organization,” she said. “People are dying every day in this country, and doing nothing is not an option, and that is what the NRA continues to do.”
Well, think what you will about the NRA, but they are doing far from “nothing.” Indeed, they are busy as hell, trying to protect Americans’ Second Amendment rights from politicians who would burn it out of the Constitution today if they had half the chance. Maybe people like Stefani don’t like that mission, but it certainly doesn’t make the NRA domestic terrorists.
